Travel to the White Sea in Karelia

More than 60 species of fish can be found in the White Sea, which include Atlantic and Pacific salmons, cod, navaga and many others. Different kinds of seal inhabit this wonderful sea, among which are Ringed seal and Bearded seal.
A canal was built between the White Sea and Onego Lake to make cargo and passenger transportation easier in this region. It was really difficult to build the canal, but finally the construction was finished in one year and 9 months after beginning the project in 1931.
Though nowadays the canal lot its significance, many tourist still visit Russia only to see this Karelian sight as many museums and memorials are situated along the way through the canal.
